GHG celebrates another Holiday Season with Leo Baeck Temple!

(LOS ANGELES) – Carrying on a great tradition, on December 24, 2007 Leo Baeck Temple was back this year to host a Holiday Party for the moms and children at the Gramercy Family Center. Along with providing lunch, members of Leo Baeck Temple brought cookies and special candy-filled jars to be decorated by each child with candy and icing. They also graciously donated lots of new books and toys to be given to all our families. What fun the kids had playing with the volunteers during the party! Thank you Leo Baeck Temple for your continued presence, encouragement and generosity during the holidays at Gramercy!

Sony Studios Adopts GHG for the Holidays!

(LOS ANGELES) – On December 18, with the excitement of Christmas looming in the air and the Holiday Season right around the corner, Sony Pictures paid a visit to the families of Gramercy Housing Group with a surprise of their own. This year, the various departments of Sony Studios collaborated to provide a Holiday Party with a special Christmas surprise for the families at Gramercy.

Decorations such as lights, wreaths, a Christmas tree, and even stockings for each client lit up the Family Center. Boston Market dinner and servers filled the stomachs of the moms and children while leaving enough room for plenty of other goodies to come. Sony donated a much needed tarp for outside use as well as messenger bags and personally donated designer clothes for the Gramercy moms. Moms also received gift cards from both Sony and Anchor Loans. The children received books donated by the Ella Fitzgerald Foundation along with a number of fun toys in their stockings such as chalkboard placemats from Zookies which they are still enjoying.

The final surprise arrived with a Sony employee dressed as Santa for the children. Each child was given an opportunity to sit on Santa’s lap and whisper to him their Christmas wishes. What a treat it was to have Santa personally visit us at Gramercy! It was a most exciting night! Thank you so much to Sony Studios for their generous gifts, the Santa surprise, a delicious dinner, and most of all your time in making the Holiday Party one we won’t forget!!

1st Annual End-Of-Year Celebration at Gramercy Family Center

We went all out to celebrate our preschoolers’ graduation! Complete with caps and gowns made specially by our teachers, this was a very exciting day for our families.

Thank You to Katelynn Fiske

Katelynn Fiske, a sophomore at Hamilton High School, came to GHG as part of a volunteer project for her English class.  Katelynn used her amazing photography skills to shoot portraits of each mother with their child.  Our families truly treasure their beautiful photos!

Mother’s Day Celebration

A family from West Adams Heritage Associations graciously donated a petting zoo for our families to enjoy on Mother’s Day. XIV Karats jewelry store of Beverly hills gave a very generous donation of matching pearl bracelets and necklaces for each of our moms.  What a great Mother’s Day gift! Honey’s Kettle Fried Chicken and El Pollo Loco provided delicious food for the festivities.

Big Sunday

Thanks to Temple Israel of Hollywood, our families had a fun-filled Sunday.  The kids really enjoyed the “bubble lady,” who showed them bubbles of different shapes of sizes.  They even got a chance to see what it’s like to be inside a bubble!

"Done In A Day" Project Gives GHG A Makeover

Gramercy was lucky enough to get a makeover on the front façade as part of the Junior League’s “Done In A Day” project.  A group of volunteers spent 2 Saturday mornings digging up our old rosemary bushes, which were no easy feat, and planting low ground cover.  They also provided us with 4 new pathways in order for people to easily access their cars without damaging the new landscape.
