Welcome to Gramercy Housing Group

In 1992, a group of social workers and child advocates gathered together with the shared vision of creating a safe, nurturing home environment where at-risk young families could flourish. This dedicated group formed Gramercy Housing Group, which has grown to become what is now a professionally-staffed 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Gramercy Housing Group Welcomes New Executive Director

March 13, 2008 – Gramercy Housing Group and PATH Partners is very pleased to announce the hiring of Atta’ya Reed-Brown as the new Executive Director for GHG.

Reed-Brown has spent a number of years in the field of human services and social work, serving a diversity of clients with the mission of improving quality of life and creating plans for success for any individual that she could. With much experience, including her most recent at Vista Del Mar Child and Family Services, she has worked with families of all kinds, including developmentally disabled, and youth and families referred by DCFS, DMH and probation. These skills, along with her MBA education, have assisted her in reviewing history, finding the gap, and then assisting persons with developing a plan and implementing it. She is no stranger to crisis intervention as well.

In working with homeless mothers and children at Gramercy Court and the Gramercy Family Center, there is an intersection of different issues that the staff and families must confront in the program. Fortunately, Reed-Brown’s training and background has afforded her a wealth of knowledge and experience with children and families in an array of situations, and the staff and board are very excited to have her on board at GHG.

Excited to be a part of the great work that is already happening at GHG, she is also looking forward to building more resources, expanding services and continuing to place more families in transitional housing units.

“People need a place to call home and to be together,” Reed-Brown explains, “a place to encourage them to become productive and successful in building healthy, new lives. Gramercy Housing Group is that kind of place, and I am looking forward to being a part of their team.”

GHG Receives Grant from S. Mark Taper Foundation

January 31, 2008
– A big thank you to the S. Mark Taper Foundation for their grant of $10,000. Gramercy Housing Group greatly appreciates such immense generosity and is excited to be partnering with a foundation that seeks to improve the lives of all people through the work of nonprofit organizations such as GHG.

Board President of GHG, David Buss, speaks on behalf of the organization by saying how “very fortunate Gramercy is to be a recipient of the S. Mark Taper Foundation grant. We will be able to meet the necessary childcare needs of young families who are very low-income or working poor so that they can secure employment and educational resources.”

With their charitable contribution, Gramercy has decided to place two very low-income children from the community into their childcare center. Now the parents of these kids will be available to work while entrusting their children to a loving, qualified and supportive staff at GHG. Thanks to the S. Mark Taper Foundation, the lives of these children as well as their families will be greatly changed for the better.
